Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators arrested 20-year-old Jason Michael Cooke from Murrells Inlet last Friday for Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Possession of Schedule II Narcotics with the Intent to Distribute.
Investigators say since his arrest, Cooke has been charged with an additional count of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime. All of these charges are a result of the armed robberies that occurred on February 3 and March 1 at the CVS in Murrells Inlet.
During the investigation, Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators say they collected enough evidence from the March 1 robbery to obtain an arrest warrant on Cooke and a search warrant for his residence. When sheriff's investigators arrived at Cooke's residence to execute the search warrant, Cooke was not home.
While executing the search warrant, Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators received information that Cooke was staying at a Super 8 Motel in Myrtle Beach.
Cooke was then arrested with the assistance of the Myrtle Beach Police Department and with their assistance, Cooke was apprehended without incident.
During the execution of the search warrant at Cooke's residence, Georgetown County Sheriff's Investigators say they recovered over 500 prescription pills, 2 handguns and clothing that was possibly worn by Cooke during the robberies.
Cooke is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center on a $170,000 cash/surety bond.
