CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The mother cathedral for South Carolina's Roman Catholics is finally getting a steeple, after more than a century.
Bishop Robert Guglielmone (goo-yel-MOH-nee) blesses the steeple for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston on Monday before the steeple is hoisted into place.
The bishop dedicated the three new bells for the cathedral in the city's historic district last year. The cathedral is the home for South Carolina's 192,000 Roman Catholics.
The church was finished in 1907 but at the time, there was not enough money to add the steeple.
