Horry County prosecutors say an accused rapist will stand trial Monday for crimes they say he committed in October 2006.
Myrtle Beach police charged Charles Leonard Smith, 27, of Maryland, with 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, assault, kidnapping, and possession of cocaine on Oct. 7, 2006.
Police say a woman refused to have sex with Smith, so he raped her and then locked her in a bathroom when she tried to leave. The say it happened at his home on Mr. Joe White Avenue in downtown Myrtle Beach.
Smith has been incarcerated since his arrest in 2006.
