A jury has been deliberating since about 11:00 this morning in the trial of an Horry County man charged with murdering his wife.
Judge Stephen John told the jurors that murder was not the only possible verdict for Asghar Eliaderani. Eliaderani, 55, could also be found guilty of voluntary manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter.
Eliaderani is charged with strangling his wife Farrah Abassi at their Socastee convenience store in March of 2008. Prosecutors claim Eliaderani had a history violence toward his wife and killed her in a rage while the two were arguing.
Eliaderani's attorney claims there is no proof he has ever been violent towards his wife.
The defense says his wife attacked him first with a knife and her death may have been the result of a cardiac arrest.
Around 5:00 p.m., the jury had a question for the judge about the law regarding voluntary manslaughter. The judge pointed out voluntary manslaughter comes from an act of passion and the jury would have to decide whether the defendant had time to cool down before committing that act.
