A Hemingway man died Saturday afternoon when the car he was working on fell and crushed him, the Georgetown County Coroner said.
Coroner Kenny Johnson said Samuel Moses Cochran Jr., 41, of Hemingway, died around 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Johnson said a roll jack under Cochran's car came loose and caused the car to fall.
Cochran died of asphyxiation from compression injuries, and his death has been ruled accidental, Johnson said.
The accident happened at Cochran's home on Squirrel Run Road near Hemingway.
