A property owner filed a lawsuit against the man who state officials say is responsible for the wildfire that destroyed dozens of homes last year.

Francis Eaton says her home in Barefoot Resort was damaged by the fire last April that destroyed 75 homes. Eaton's suit claims Marc Torchi was negligent in allowing his backyard debris fire to spread out of control, causing the wildfire.

Last October, Torchi agreed to pay a $732 fine for failing to notify forestry officials of an outdoor burn, but he took no responsibility for the wildfire.
