The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has captured a man they say escaped from custody around 2:30 this afternoon.
In a news release officials say 34-year-old William Dempsy Cooper escaped from the custody on deputies on Rose Hill Road near the intersection of Carvers Bay around 2:30 this afternoon. He was captured about two hours later.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Bloodhound team assisted in the search.
Cooper was being takend to the Georgetown County Detention Center on a General Sessions Bench Warrant for Purse Snatching.
Investigators say how Cooper escaped will be determined after a internal investigation.
