A storm system working its way through the Southeast today will overspread the area with a cold rain that will last into the afternoon. With temperatures reaching the low to mid 40s, expect a cold and windy day from start to finish.
As the system moves up the coast and off to our Northeast, it will begin to wrap cold air into our area. With some moisture also being wrapped around, we'll watch for some rain showers to mix with snow showers, then turn over to snow showers in the evening and overnight. Temperatures will drop quickly into the lower 30s Inland and low to mid 30s along the Grand Strand.
Along the Grand Strand: Expect periods of cold rain becoming widely scattered this afternoon and evening. Overnight the rain showers may briefly mix or turn to all snow showers. With air temperatures staying just above freezing and surface temperatures above freezing as well, accumulating snow will be hard to come by. If anything, a light dusting may occur on a few grassy locations.
Inland areas:
Around I-95: All rain through the daylight hours will gradually turn to snow showers late this evening and stick around overnight. Very little in accumulations are expected, but there may be a dusting up to 1/2 inch in a few locations, mainly on grassy surfaces.
North and West of I-95: Rain will gradually turn to snow this evening as temperatures drop. Winter weather advisories have been issued from 8pm through 8am tomorrow for Darlington, Dillon, and Marlboro counties as some accumulating snow is possible. Generally looking at a few areas reaching up to an inch. Higher amounts possible toward the Midlands.
Cloudy, cold, and blustery conditions stick around for Wednesday as the system exits the Southeast. Highs will struggle once again to reach the mid 40s and it will feel much colder thanks to the wind.
Looking ahead we have a much nicer extended forecast with the possibility of Springlike weather! First Alert Meteorologist Darren Stack details all of this in your video forecast.
