Myrtle Beach Police say an assault suspect on the run barreled through a red light and killed an innocent woman.

It happened around 6pm Monday at the busy intersection of Highway 501 and Seaboard Street.

Police say 28-year-old Johnny Samuel Foster was fleeing from a home a few blocks from the intersection where he had stabbed his girlfriend. They say she was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

They say he was driving from the beach end of Highway 501 toward Conway when it appears he ran the stop light at Seaboard Street in his red Ford Explorer.

He slammed into two other cars. The driver of one died at the scene. The other was airlifted to Wilmington.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says the name of the woman who died is not being released pending family notification, but did tell us she's a 53-year-old from Pawleys Island.

Police say Foster was still combative after wrecking. They say he assaulted the medics on scene, and on the way to the hospital. Foster was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where we're told he will be kept overnight for observation.

The lead detective on the case tells NewsChannel 15 she's spoken with the Solicitor's Office about the charges Foster could face. They include possibly assault and battery with intent to kill and felony DUI.

Police are still looking for witnesses in this case. They say they need help piecing it together. If you saw anything Monday night, call 843-918-1382.
