The City of North Myrtle Beach has hired a professional recruiting firm to help search for a new public safety director.
William Bailey was demoted from the position last month, after he lied about the theft of his city-owned gun.
A city spokesperson says the Mercer group will do recruitment, background checks, interviews and negotiations for the position.
The city has used the firm before, to hire a parks and recreation director and assistant city manager.
