Horry County Police say two people are in federal custody today after being arrested as part of an ongoing joint narcotic investigation involving the Horry County Police Department and the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
Police spokesman Robert Kegler said in a news release that on February 23rd, detectives with the Horry County Police Department's Narcotics and Vice Section and agents with the DEA arrested Joel Carreon-Urrea, 28, and Gerrardo Garcia-Valenzuela, 23, both of Yuma, Arizona.
Kegler says the men had 2.6 kilograms of heroin on them, with an approximate street value of $815,000.
Police also seized an unspecified amount cash.
The investigation is continuing with additional arrests pending.
Both are being held in Florence County on federal drug charges.
