A major home insurance provider will no longer provide coverage to mobile homes along the South Carolina coast.
A spokesman with Allstate insurance tells NewsChannel 15 that protection for mobile homes in Horry and Georgetown counties will not be renewed.
Allstate says the decision was made in order to "maintain a strong financial presence in all the communities they serve around the country."
The spokesman says that the mobile home owners along the coast who are being dropped will likely be able to receive coverage from American Modern Insurance Group and that Allstate has a good working relationship with American Modern.
More than 2,000 mobile home owners in other South Carolina counties, including Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, and Jasper counties will also lose their Allstate coverage.
