The Georgetown County Advisory Committee for Coastal Carolina University recently awarded four Spring 2010 scholarships to current University students who are residents of the county.

They are Marybeth Britt and Jenny Wofford, both of Georgetown, and Stephanie Frey and Hannah Grippo, both of Pawleys Island.

The board awards the scholarships each semester and sometimes in the summer, depending on funding. The scholarship generally pays for one three-hour class. The committee also awards a $1,500 scholarship to one student from each Georgetown County high school.

Members of the committee are appointed for a four-year term and can serve two terms. Scholarship forms may be obtained from Gayle Britt; call 843-349-4031 or 843-349-6564.
