Tuesday afternoon, US Congressman Jim Clyburn toured a community health center in the Pee Dee.
He was there touting the positive impact federal stimulus money has had on the facility. The congressman got a personal tour of Hope Health in Florence. The medical facility received two stimulus grants totaling $500,000.
The CEO of Hope Health says the money has allowed them to hire 16 more employees, which enables them to see more patients. "The jobs are important, but to me what's more important is the folks that are able to get healthcare because of the employees that we are able to hire," said Carl Humphries.
The stimulus money allowed the facility to add six rooms and enlarge its pharmacy.
Clyburn says Hope Health is just one example of the positive effect of the stimulus act.
