The City of North Myrtle Beach held its annual reception for snowbirds Friday in appreciation of them coming south for the winter and boosting the economy.
The chamber provided food, prizes and give-aways for the visitors along with the opportunity for the seasonal residents to learn more about North Myrtle Beach.
Those who attended said they liked coming to North Myrtle Beach to get away from the cold. They said despite the snow threat tonight, it would be worse where they were from. "I think it's cold but at least it's not a couple feet of snow like we have back home.We enjoy calling back home and comparing with what our friends are doing back there," said Loretta Crosser, Ohio resident.
There were more than 500 people at the event, and the chamber says they may have to relocate next year to accommodate the bigger crowd.
