A culinary competition in Myrtle Beach Wednesday left some of the chefs in the dark.
At the US Foodservice Show, 18 chefs competed for cash prizes and honors from the American Culinary Federation.
Suddenly, in the middle of the competition, the power went out at the Convention Center and the judges had to taste the entries by the light of flashlights and cell phones.
One chef said the competition is a great way to share ideas with other chefs, even if it's in the dark. "Getting to know the chefs from other properties and we have chefs from Charleston, Savannah and Hilton Head here today, so it's nice to network and get to know the chefs from around the area," said Robert Beuth, the chef at Litchfield Plantation.
The lights came back on after about 25 minutes.
Officials say it was part of a larger outage that affected parts of Myrtle Beach and was caused by a breaker that failed.
