Highway Patrol's accident investigation team is on scene on University Boulevard at Coastal Carolina University, where a 19 year old was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon.

The Horry County Coroner's Office says Heather Meade from Lexington was hit on University Boulevard across from Baxley Hall.

She was taken to MUSC in Charleston where she died around 7:15pm.

University Police said the accident remains under investigation and would not release further information. CCU spokeswoman Martha Hunn said Meade was a student at the university. CCU is providing counseling at Student Health Services for students who need it.
