COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A documentary about a deadly civil rights protest in South Carolina debuts on public television during Black History Month.
The film "Scarred Justice: The Orangeburg Massacre 1968" contains interviews with former South Carolina State College students who participated in the protest of a segregated bowling alley.
State troopers fired on a crowd of students at the historically black school, killing three and wounding more than two dozen.
Police officers and government officials from the time also were interviewed for the documentary that premiered last year at S.C. State's annual commemoration of the event.
The film will be shown throughout February on public TV stations, starting Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo. Its run on South Carolina stations starts Thursday.
