Ice coats the trees in Dillon County.
Officials with the SC Department of Transportation said there are no major problems on the roadways throughout the Pee Dee and Grand Strand, though crews are monitoring the weather closely. Some of the roads in the northern counties are becoming "slushy" and will continue to freeze.
Ray George with DOT said as of 10:00 a.m. Saturday, no roads were closed or impassable in Darlington, Dillon, Marlboro, Florence, Marion, Horry, Williamsburg and Georgetown Counties.
George said around 75 DOT employees are deployed throughout the region with the majority focusing on upper Darlington, Marlboro and Dillon counties. George said the roads and bridges have managed to stay above 32 degrees, so for now, things are running smoothly.
However, NewsChannel 15's First Alert Weather team is forecasting for temperatures to continue to drop and warn bridges and overpasses may become slick throughout the morning and afternoon. Use caution if traveling.
According to the SC Highway Patrol's online collision reports, there were eleven incidents being reported throughout the area as of 10:00 a.m. In Florence county, there was a report of a tree in the road on Sumter Street at the intersection of Bunch Street.
In Marlboro County, where the icing is a little worse, SC Highway Patrol reports two trees in the roadway: Highway 385 at Burnt Factory Road and SC 9 East at Spears Cemetery Road.
