Crews with the SC Department of Transportation will be deployed overnight to salt roads in the upper Pee Dee counties.

The salt trucks are already loaded and ready to go. DOT officials say teams will be sent out beginning at midnight to Florence, Darlington, Dillon and Marlboro Counties.

They will salt bridges and roads as needed. "Sort of getting things ready in advance of any kind of bad weather that we get, they'll be ready to go out in the morning in it," said Ray George, Department of Transportation.

DOT officials tell us they will also have crews on standby in Horry and Georgetown counties. DOT has activated a website where you can find updates on winter road conditions in your area.
