COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says his last state-of-the-state address will offer a slimmed-down agenda including streamlining government and limiting spending.
Sanford briefed reporters Wednesday morning on the speech he'll give to a statewide audience at 7 p.m. from the chamber of the South Carolina House.
Sanford says he'll push linking state spending increases to growth in population and inflation. He also wants lieutenant governors and governors to be elected jointly and an overhaul of the Employment Security Commission.
It's Sanford's first statewide address since his June confession to an affair with an Argentine woman that prompted investigations into his travel and spending practices.
