After months of searching for an administrator, Horry County Council passed a resolution Tuesday night to try to get it done.
An outside firm narrowed it down 20 applicants a few months ago. From there, the council chose the top three. One of those dropped out of the race just before the final vote. On that final vote, the council tied six to six.
At the time, that made all finalists ineligible to be nominated again and council told the consulting firm to refresh the batch of resumes.
Tuesday night, council members fired the hiring group and said it will just try again with the same group of 20.
"Everyone is back in the mix. Well, that makes me a little nervous, because I don't want us to end up with the same results that we had before in the 6-6 stalemate. And there's always the possibility that that would happen," said County Council Chairman Liz Gilland.
County Attorney John Weaver is the acting administrator. He was one of the finalists and now will be considered again.
