People lined the streets Monday in downtown Myrtle Beach for a parade remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.
Nearly two hundred people came out for the parade including children's groups, the junior ROTC, bikers and others involved in the community.
One of the participants came from out of state to join in on the festivities and she said it's especially important for the children to get involved. "So that the younger generation can get an appreciation of what Dr. King stood for. I know they read about it in history books and probably heard about it from their families, but just to give them a hands on experience for what his legacy stood for," said Lisa Green, participant.
The parade started at Chapin Park and ended at the Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center.
