Monday, the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior will be celebrated around the nation.

But in some areas you can begin celebrating Sunday.

At the historic Train Depot in downtown Myrtle Beach activities kick off Sunday with the Gospel Choir Showdown at 4:00 p.m.

Also Sunday, in the Pee Dee, MLK's birthday, as well as 100 years of the NAACP will both be celebrated at the Historic Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mullins. That'll be at 4:00 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Reverend Jesse Washington, Jr., the commissioner of the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission.
