COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina board is expected to give final approval to borrowing $270 million to help build a Boeing Inc. aircraft assembly line in a coastal city.
The five-member state Budget and Control Board will meet Wednesday morning to consider the borrowing package.
Borrowing the money will cost taxpayers $23 million initially.
But Senate Finance Committee Chairman Hugh Leatherman says the state's overall debt burden is decreased and interest payments will fall as older state debts are paid off.
Boeing is building an assembly plant in North Charleston that is expected to create 3,800 jobs in seven years.
