South Carolina is getting some federal help for the homeless.
The Department of Homeland Security awarded $3.5 million to the Palmetto State. The money will go to the emergency food and shelter programs. It's more than double the amount South Carolina got last year.
Here is the breakdown of grants for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee:

Dillon County $31,955
Florence County $105,848
Horry County $227,198
Marion County $40,974
Marlboro County $35,337
In each county, a local board establishes priorities. Member agencies include: American Red Cross; Catholic Charities USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; The Jewish Federations of North America; The Salvation Army; and, United Way Worldwide.
