The new year got off to a cold and wet start for some brave swimmers Friday.
A few dozen people stripped down to their swimsuits and took the polar plunge at Bay Watch Resort in North Myrtle Beach.
Temperatures were in the 30's when the shivering souls took their dip in the icy Atlantic.
Hotel staffers handed out towels and the polar plungers could go inside and warm up with hot coffee or cider afterwards.
But, doesn't it just make you want to go brrrrrr?!
Jerry McCormick of Latta tells NewsChannel 15, "It's chilly. You can't feel it after the first, like, 25 seconds. It's numb. But it was good fun. We enjoyed it."
In answer to the question "why?" McCormick just says to start the year off right.
