Federal transportation officials announced Saturday additional security measures for domestic and international air travelers in light of the attempted terrorist attack on Friday.
The Transportation Security Administration said on its Web site that the Department of Homeland Security "immediately put additional screening measures into place- for all domestic and international flights- to ensure the continued safety of the traveling public."
The release said security measures may be stepped up even more on US-bound flights.
"These measures are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same thing everywhere," the release read.
At Myrtle Beach International Airport, the passengers are split on whether they noticed additional security during their Saturday travels.
"Nothing at all. I flew in from Pittsburgh to Charlotte and then Charlotte to Myrtle Beach, and there were no lines, nothing. It took me five minutes in security in Pittsburgh," said William Sloan who lives in Myrtle Beach.
Fran Timpanaro, a weekly air traveler, landed mid-afternoon Saturday in Myrtle Beach, and she said she noticed a difference.
"They were actually checking the bags as opposed to eating their breakfast,"
Timpanaro said.
"I would be happy if they strip searched everybody because then I'd know I'm safe," she said.
