If a car booster seat is on your shopping list, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has some recommendations.
They tested 60 models this year. Of the 60 tested, only 9 boosters got the rating of "best bet".
These are booster seats the IIHS says provide the best lap and shoulder belt fit.
*Two models by Recaro- the Young Sport and the Vivo
*Cosco's Juvenile Pronto.
The IIHS says the boosters in the best bets category provide good lap and shoulder belt fit for typical 4 to 8 year olds in almost any car, minivan or SUV.
Half of the 11 "not recommended" boosters are 3 in 1 or all in one models- which are designed to be used as restraints when the child is younger and then converted later on.
The IIHS says parents should keep in mind price doesn't ensure safety.
