Several local schools on the Grand Strand and in the Pee Dee have been recognized as some of the best in the country.
The U.S. News and World Report released it's third annual list of "America's Best High Schools."
In our area, the following schools made the cut:
Creek Bridge High School (Marion County)
Green Sea Floyds High School (Horry County)
Lake City High School (Florence County)
Lamar High School (Darlington County)
Latta High School (Dillon County)
Mayo High School for Math Science and Technology (Darlington County)
North Myrtle Beach High School (Horry County)
Out of the 223 high schools and charter schools in South Carolina, 22 were recognized.
The magazine examined more than 20,000 U.S. public high schools and analyzed how the educated all students, as well as minority and disadvantaged student achievement and college-bound student scores on state and advanced placement tests.
