Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd says an official at the Darlington County Detention Center is suspended without pay on allegations of misconduct in office.
Byrd says Captain Ed Turmel was placed on suspension Monday morning.
At this time, Sheriff Byrd isn't releasing the specifics of the allegations.
He tells us he has called in the State Law Enforcement Division to look into this matter.
Trumel has worked at the detention center for about four years.
