(AP) -- South Carolina state senators have introduced bills that would ban teens from using a cell phone while driving and require residents receiving unemployment checks to undergo drug testing.

In all, 120 proposals were prefiled by senators Wednesday for the legislative session starting in January. Under the bill, jobless workers who test positive for illegal drugs would have to complete treatment to receive benefits and then tested randomly to continue getting checks. South Carolina's jobless rate was 12.1 percent in October.

Besides barring drivers younger than 19 from using a cell phone while behind the wheel, the bill would require adult drivers to chat using a handsfree device. Another bill would make it illegal for drivers of any age to text while driving.
