The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is helping towns in the Pee Dee better market their communities to capitalize on tourism.
State tourism officials held presentations in Marion and Florence Monday to unveil the Pee Dee region's tourism product development plan. The plan revealed ways city and county officials can attract more tourists to their towns.
"We're looking at things like agriculture based on tobacco cotton heritage of the state . History of Swamp Fox and Francis Marion is a big piece of this plan," said Chad Prosser, Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism.
State tourism officials say Pee Dee towns can really capitalize on their small-town charm. They will work with the communities to better market their tourism products and venues.
