COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A committee is sticking with its decision that a South Carolina Family Court judge is unqualified.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported the Judicial Merit Selection Review Commission refused to change its decision on Charleston Family Court Judge F.P. Segars-Andrews.
The panel found her unqualified on a 9-1 vote Nov. 5 and voted 7-3 Wednesday to stick with the decision. A final vote is next month.
The finding mean Segars-Andrews can't get another six-year term when her term expires next year.
Her attorney, Tim Madden, said it would be inappropriate to comment on the decision.
The newspaper said Segars-Andrews refused to remove herself from a divorce case in 2006 after she learned the ex-wife's lawyer had shared a large sum with a lawyer who worked for the same firm as Segars-Andrews' husband.
