For some, going Christmas shopping on the day after Thanksgiving is as much a tradition as leftover turkey and stuffing.

Tons of shoppers hit the stores early Friday morning to find a great deal or just because they thought it was going to be fun.

However, be warned, Black Friday shopping is not for the faint hearted. The shopping experience can go two ways.

To some people, it can be seen as a good time and a lot of fun, while others talked about the whole event as shear madness.

"It gets you in the Christmas spirit," said Cheryl Mabe, shopper.

While another shopper Jim Murph said, "It was like watching an old black and white cowboy movie. The herd is there, you shoot the gun and all the cattle go."

There is no question however, that shoppers can find some real bargains on Black Friday, like Tammy Shorter, a shopper from Manning who found a vacuum cleaner for just $25.

"It just caught my eye, looks a good deal, so I grabbed it, yes," she said.

To find those good deals, shoppers get up very early and are willing to put up with a mass of humanity.

Some shoppers held off until after the first big rush of the morning, hoping the crowds would thin out.

One shopper complained of the frustration from rushing to the store for one particular item that is supposedly a real steal, only to find it is sold out.

"They advertise, and they put all those ads out and then when you're not here in the first ten people through the door, you don't get it, I don't like that idea." said Tommy Murph from Loris.

So, is shopping on Black Friday really enjoyable or a real pain in the neck? Or some combination of both?

Some shoppers said Black Friday is fun if you are patient when going through and looking for sale items, while others said they did not really like the Black Friday experience at all.

However, whether you love Black Friday or hate it, all agreed it is an event to remember.

The National Retail Federation expects 134 million people to go shopping this weekend up from 128 million last year.
