For the 6th year, the City of Darlington handed out free turkeys to the community. The city was prepared to giveaway about 1,000 turkeys Tuesday morning, but about 2,000 people showed up.

The city sponsors the event with the help of about 25 local businesses and community organizations.

The giveaway started at 7:00am at the Darlington Square in downtown Darlington. Traffic was such an issue, police had to be stationed on site to keep cars moving.

The city also gave people canned goods and beverages. The city started the event as a way to help the less fortunate in the community.
