A third candidate dropped out of the running Tuesday, hours before the vote.

The remaining candidates were John Weaver, the Horry County Attorney and Duncan Ballantyne, who most recently was the County Administrator in Martin County, Florida.

Horry County officials say the Mercer Research Group will go back to the candidate pool and look for more candidates to chose from.
