One man has been charged after a student waiting for a bus to take her to Myrtle Beach Intermediate School was hit in the hand by the side mirror of a truck that left the scene of the accident.

The accident happened at the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Greens Boulevard around 7:15am.

Myrtle Beach Police say the man driving the truck did not contribute to the accident because the student actually turned and ran into the truck, but he was charged with failure to render aid after he turned himself in with his attorney a few hours later. The charge is a 6 point violation and carries a fine.

A spokesperson for the Horry County School District says the student was taken to the hospital and treated and released. The student may get x-rays on her hand later today.
