More than three thousand elementary students in Florence received their H1N1 flu shots Wednesday. The shots were given at Delmae Elementary School.

Health officials offered the shots to children because they are the most vulnerable to the virus. School district officials say more than 3,700 elementary students were vaccinated Wednesday, and overall things went well.

"Everyone has been really cooperative in helping and getting things straight. The students are not as fearful as I thought they would be," said Linda Hailes, RN, Delmae Elementary School Nurse.

About 80 nurses from DHEC helped give the shots. District officials aren't sure when the middle and high school students will receive their H1N1 vaccinations
