The Florence County Sheriff's Office Criminal Enforcement Unit or C.E.U. spent several days in El Paso, Texas, patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border.

Curt Summerford and Scott Brown are two of seven officers who traveled to Texas. Their C.E.U. team was selected by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Border Patrol to inspect vehicles and people as they entered and exited the United States from Mexico.

Lt. Summerford said before he headed to Texas, he thought about a thousand cars a day crossed the border. He learned it was about 1,200 to 1,300 per hour.
