The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a man was leaving Kroger grocery store near Restaurant Row in Horry County and crossed Highway 17 when he was hit by an SUV.

The man was taken by helicopter to the hospital as all lanes of traffic were shut down from Lake Arrowhead Road to where 17 Business and Bypass merge in Myrtle Beach.

Highway Patrol says the man was wearing dark clothing, and the driver was not at fault.

The man's condition has not been released.
