It happened the way many people predicted, there will be a runoff in the Myrtle Beach mayoral race.
The incumbent, John Rhodes received 48% of the vote, and former Mayor Mark McBride garnered 28%.
To win the race a candidate needed 50 percent plus one vote.
This race has been called a referendum on the May biker rallies and one percent ad tax in Myrtle Beach.
Rhodes helped push the ad tax through council, while McBride was a strong opponent of the tax which is supposed raise millions of dollars to advertise Myrtle Beach around the country and help alleviate property taxes for residents.
The runoff for mayor will be held in two weeks.
