Workers hoping to return to the steel mill in Georgetown may be in for a long wait.

United Steelworkers Union Local President, James Sanderson told the Sun News that a company official told him that Arcelormittal's Georgetown steel mill may not reopen until 2011.

NewsChannel 15 has placed several calls to Sanderson. They have not been returned.

Company officials will not confirm the date, but they said the mill will be closed until market conditions improve.

Arcelormittal closed in july putting more than 200 people out of work.
