A double fatal accident in Horry County backed up traffic for miles on Highway 501 Saturday evening.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says two cars collided on 501 about one mile south of Aynor around 5:00pm.
They say a Ford Mustang driven by a Coastal Carolina Student from Lexington was traveling south when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Volkswagon driven by a woman from Aynor.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released.
There were no other passengers in the cars.
