Police took pro-active measures following a tip that violence could break out between rival outlaw motorcycle gangs in the Pee Dee.

Saturday afternoon, police were staged at a location off of Highway 15-401 in the Lydia Community of Darlington County. That's just around the corner from a known biker club.

Police say members of an outlaw motorcycle gang assaulted several other bikers at an undisclosed location near Florence County last week.

Police received a tip that something violent would happen Saturday afternoon.

In response they called in state police and the Florence County Sheriff's Office and increased their presence around the biker club to thwart a possible violent outbreak.

Police say no arrests were made Saturday and there were no problems.

They continue to investigate last week's altercation and plan to make several arrests.
