This week, the Horry County Council will consider passing the final reading of an ordinance that would put tougher regulations on outdoor and open burnings in certain parts of the county.
The county began considering the step after the wildfires in April that burned around 20,000 acres of land in Horry County and destroyed 75 homes.
The fire was the worst in South Carolina state history.
Horry County fire rescue chief says there was nothing his crews could have done differently to prevent the wildfire.
Horry County Council will take the measure up at their regularly scheduled meeting this Tuesday.
