Florence police say an innocent bystander is in the hospital after being wounded during a shootout in Florence.

Police say a group of men in two different cars exchanged gunfire on Oakland Avenue just before 1:00 Friday afternoon.

The victim happened to be walking out of a liquor store and was hit by a stray bullet.

His condition has not been released.

Police blocked off a portion of Oakland Avenue to look for the men involved in the shooting.

Officers continue to canvass the area.
