(AP) -- South Carolina has a chance to celebrate the music and culture of the state's moonshining past.
The 17th annual Moonshiner's Reunion and Mountain Music Festival gets under way Friday in the Spartanburg County town of Campobello. The two-day event recalls the days of making corn whiskey in the
mountains during the 1930s and '40s.The event was inspired by musician Barney Barnwell who has written songs about the moonshiners and their culture.
During the folk festival, on a hillside at Plum Hollow Farm, there will be camping and all-night music.
There will also be vendors selling authentic mountain wares - no moonshine, but things such as handcrafted brooms, soap and pottery.
