Police say they've arrested a man responsible for several burglaries and car break-ins in Lamar.

Lamar Police Chief Charles Woodle says, when one of his officers spotted Carey Durant on Darlington Avenue Wednesday morning, Durant took off running, jumped into a dump truck, and drove off.

Woodle says after crashing the dump truck, he ran into the woods.

Woodle says he was caught in the afternoon.

Durant is charged with 9 counts of burglary and car break-ins, in addition to grand larceny, and malicious damage to personal property.
