A Darlington County man accused of having inappropriate relations with children at a daycare where his wife worked, pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Several children were about to take the stand against Johnnie Johnson, when he decided to enter the plea. Circuit Judge Howard King sentenced Johnson to 15 years in prison on the 9 counts of inappropriate behavior with children. The charges included lewd act, indecent exposure and disseminating obscene materials to minors.

The crimes took place in 2007 when Johnson's wife worked as a caregiver at a Lamar daycare. Police say Johnson would visit the daycare from time to time.

The children were under 12 years old.
